Case studies

 

• Undertook expenses review of a senior executive and the key client lead for the division of an SEC quoted company.  Prepared comprehensive report on the veracity of the expenses claimed by the executive comparative to seniority of the role, relevance of the costs incurred, and accuracy of the claims made by the executive.  Report was used to demand repayment of monies and the admonishment of the individual concerned.

 

• Oversaw a team dedicated to testing and improving the internal controls of a multi-national business based on five continents, reporting on control risks, performance against benchmark SOx compliance as well as helping local businesses improve their overall control environment.

 

• Reviewed the revenue recognition policies of a significantly sized agency, compared the terms of the policy with actual accounting.  Provided report proposing significant changes to the timing of revenue and a set of procedures for the future recognition of revenue to ensure compliance with best practices.  Amended policies to accord with appropriate accounting standards.

 

• For an SEC company set up the local contractual and working arrangements for the Brazilian subsidiary with its clients for the appropriate approach to media rebates being earned by the subsidiary, in the face of global contractual terms between the SEC company and the client.  All done in compliance with regulatory bodies and federal law.  Culminated in all global clients, including Ford, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever, Warner Brothers, Newell Brands, etc. being satisfied with outcome.

 

• For a private New York based company that was looking to expand its business into Brazil we arranged for the set-up of the subsidiary, navigating the local bureaucracy, and providing a trusted Legal Representative.  Further organized for local firm to provide accounting and taxation services at competitive rate.
